Info Soome sõpradele: Cybersecurity Breakfast Meeting in Helsinki!
28.11.2022

We invite you to join our Telecommunications, National Emergency Supply, Cybersecurity Breakfast Meeting in Helsinki!

We are gathering at Hotel Scandic Grand Central on Thursday 1.12.2022 from 9.00 to 10.30. Breakfast will be served from 8.45 a.m. The address is Vilhonkatu 13 at Helsinki Railway Station. Come and join our group of experts in telecoms, national emergency supply and cyber security Petteri Järvinen, Elina Ussa, Anssi Kärkkäinen, Tomi Lounema and Juhani Eronen.

Just like railways, energy or road infrastructure, data transmission and internet connectivity are critical to the functioning of our society and the building of Finland's links to the world. This backbone of our society must be safeguarded in all circumstances – whatever the world situation. Recently, we have read about numerous cases of suspected or proven sabotage, such as the breakage of Norway's Svalbard submarine cable, the Nord Stream gas leaks and the loss of communications caused by the cutting of cables on German state railways. In the south of France, damage to submarine cables has now been detected three times.

At our event we discuss the following topics:

  • How do we ensure national emergency supply and cybersecurity in Finnish telecoms?
  • How do we ensure that nothing irreversible happens and that a broken cable connection can be rerouted elsewhere?
  • In Finland, an online service reveals the location of our critical submarine cables - why?
  • Dozens of cables run along the seabed of the Gulf of Finland. What is the situation in other sea areas around Finland – or on land?
  • What is the security situation globally, specifically in the maritime areas?
  • What does the planned Arctic data cable mean for Finland?
  • How do we prepare against cyber threats that could cripple various parts of our infrastructure in our country through our information systems?
  • Is preparedness for cyber threats currently at an adequate level?
  • How can it be improved?
